AVG releases LiveKive cloud sync and backup tool

by Lee Mathews on April 7, 2011 at 10:avg livekive dropbox42 AM a while back, we reported on AVGS new LiveKive service, a new synchronization and backup cloud tool which seems to have been named after a VAT in which the mash is made during the beer. But enough about AVGS odd choice of monikers--LiveKive has launched and is now ready to receive your files to AVG cloud.

LiveKive takes aim at services like dropbox, SugarSync, but right now it is lagging behind in terms of features. In its current form, is LiveKive compatible only with Windows and OS x. There are no mobile clients yet, but with the AVGS strong presence on Android we would not be surprised to see an app that will in the near future.

The company offers a heck of a deal right now though. If you sign up for a paid account during the launch, you can get unlimited storage for $ 80 for a whole year. You cannot even score 50 GB per year at that price from dropbox, so if the cost and space is more important to you than cross-platform availability, LiveKive may be worth checking out.

If you are interested in ponying up all the money right now, you can still get a 5 GB account for free. Just head on over, and create an account for LiveKive. Tags: apps, avg, backup, cloud, dropbox, livekive, mac, os x, OsX, storage, sugarsync, sync, windows
