45 AM Google has removed Grooveshark from Android market. The move, there will be many months after Apple kicked music app from the App Store and has to do with (what else?) accusations from several top music labels that Grooveshark is violating copyright law.It is unclear whether Google plans even remotely delete the app from the Android smartphones as it has already been installed, something that Google has the power to do but have only previously used to get rid of malware-are trotted apps.
Answers to questions about Groovesharks removal from Android market, a Google spokesman had only this to say: ' we remove apps from the Android market that violates our terms of service. " The spokesman did not specify the violations Grooveshark has committed in relation to the market's terms of service. Google has also understandably not said anything about this is done after pressure from the music industry--even what could have triggered this removal?
In an interesting coincidence is Google to outline efforts against piracy before the Chamber of Deputies the Judiciary Committee today. Google has been accused on many occasions that the gains from piracy by allowing "pirate" sites that post the Google ads. The company is expected to deny and issue a tougher stance on piracy in today's hearing.
When it comes to Grooveshark, it looks like it runs quickly of mobile app stores that are permitted to exist. Believes, however, that you probably will still be able to get Android app from Grooveshark directly--because (unless you have a device that at & T Android) Android allows you to install applications that do not come from the market.
