Banshee music player now works in Windows, supports Amazon MP3 downloads

by Sebastian Anthony on April 6, 2011 at 11: 35 a few moments ago, version 2 of the Banshee music player for Linux was released, bringing with them a whole slew of new features and additions of an official--but alpha-quality--Windows build. Mac OS X build version 2 will later today.

The most notable new feature is support for store, Amazon MP3-you can buy and download music from within Banshee--but unfortunately it is only available on Linux build now (OS X and Windows support is planned, however). There have also been some significant improvements to the artist, album and gender interactions--and Yes, you can finally Right-click on a track, album or artist, and select ' play once ' to insert it into the queue.

In addition to the actual playback, the user interface has been cleaned — now seems much smarter--and the Ubuntu one Music Store and SoundMenu add-in has been made official. For a complete list of changes, additions and bug fixes, check in the change log.

When Windows support was from the beginning of February, we found the rough around the edges and filled with stability problems. With version 2, Banshee for Windows is still a bit unstable, but it is shaping up to be a good alternative to Winamp, iTunes, or what other music library manager you are using. It is almost as attractive as his brother, even GNOMEish!
