Windows 8 App Store pictures leaked?

by Lee Mathews on April 11, 2011 at 10:windows 8 app storeWindows 8 00 pictures continues to leak on the Internet, despite the fact that Microsoft's wallpaper-based grounds to those who have access to the early versions. Today's installment courtesy CNBeta shows upcoming Windows App Store, which will likely use prominently in Windows 8.

We have our doubts about the authenticity of the image. In addition to showing more of the built-in games which already come with Windows, Opera, see--and a competing browser seems an odd integration this early on. Of course, with browser ballot continued for some time in the EU, Microsoft would probably need to include rivals as Opera and Firefox to stay out of trouble. We are also unsure why Clickgamer appears under angry birds instead of Rovio--the game's actual publisher.

Of course, it is still early, so it is quite possible that Windows App Store image is genuine, but only with placeholders for images and text for now. Anyone else thinking about Windows Marketplace can be a more logical name? You know, to keep things consistent with the Windows phone and keep Apple a mural in the bay.
