Shows how much it cares about the people who use their app on Linux, Skype, has released version 2.2 for Linux. Do not run against the champagne, as this is still a beta, and that its audit number suggests, is not the very long awaited major new version that achieve feature parity with its Windows and Mac brethren.
It has only been what, almost 15 months since the last beta version of Skype for Linux? Well, during this time has Skype's main focus clearly improved its Linux app, because the new version fixed the incredible number of 49 bugs. It also leads 23 "improvements", and that still manages to somehow still has a fair share of "known issues". Exciting, no?
What is perhaps the most important function extension this is the support for Skype Access. This allows you to easily connect to paid Wi-Fi hotspots across the world while paying for them with Skype credit. Skype for Linux has also been supported for call waiting and holding, hosting easy Conference. Audio and quality has been improved (hopefully in a way that will be felt in daily use) and some of the languages that have been updated.
